Respite Care Services

Serving Iron Range Family Caregivers Across the Lifespan

In-Home Respite Care In-Home Respite
The Respite Aide program is your best choice if you need frequent or longer periods of respite, or if your loved one needs care that may include medication or personal care assistance.  Our paid Respite Aides come with nursing, nursing assistant, or family care-giving experience, and receive continuing yearly education.

Respite House 2000
Our Respite House opened in March of 2000 and is licensed to provide care in a comfortable, home-like setting.  Respite House 2000 features a kitchen, dining area, living room, three bedrooms, a large bathroom, and a fenced-in backyard.  The house is completely accessible and beautifully furnished.  Here, respite care is provided by our Respite Aide staff.  Respite Volunteers may help with things like meals and recreational activities.  Respite care is available for a few hours or a few days.

Summer Camp for Respite Scholarships
Scholarships are available for children who have special needs, allowing parents several days of respite while their child attends an area summer camp.  The family is responsible for making all camp arrangements, including camp selection, enrollment, physical exams, and transportation.  Applications are available in the spring.

Camp JOEY (Joyful Opportunities for Elders & Youth)
Camp JOEY is the program for you if your loved one needs a higher level of personal, nursing, or medical care.  This program represents a cooperative effort between Range Respite and Virginia Regional Medical Center.  Camp JOEY provides a minimum of 24 hours of care and can give you a weekend or even a week of vacation.  Respite guests at Camp JOEY receive quality care from the nursing staff and individual attention by our volunteers who provide social activities such as visiting, going for walks, playing cards, etc.  We keep the costs down as much as possible by having you bring your own personal items, clothing, medications, and any special feeding formulas you may use.  The full cost of a 24-hour stay is $170 for adults and $190 for children.
